Indian
Airlines Flight 814 on its way from Kathmandu, Nepal to
India was hijacked on Christmas Eve, Friday, December
24, 1999 by allegedly five Pakistani nationals, soon
after the aircraft penetrated Indian airspace. The
hijackers bashed to death 25-year-old Indian Rupin
Katyal. After hovering off for days in the air, finally,
the plane landed in Afghanistan, where the hijackers
agreed to let go the hostages in exchange for the
release of three Muslim terrorists.
